{"id":41,"date":"2021-10-26T11:19:52","date_gmt":"2021-10-26T18:19:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/k7rdg.org\/rev2\/service\/"},"modified":"2022-02-21T17:51:40","modified_gmt":"2022-02-22T00:51:40","slug":"service","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/k7rdg.org\/rev2\/service\/","title":{"rendered":"Service"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n<h2>Emergency Service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The Amateur Radio Emergency Service\u00ae (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.\n<\/p><p>\nIn Cochise Country, RACES and ARES are a joint organization, so that resources are pooled for efficiency and the common good of the people of Cochise County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>RACES stands for &#8220;Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service,&#8221; a protocol created by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC Part 97, Section 407). Many government agencies across the country train their Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS) volunteers using the RACES protocol. The concept behind the acronym was to educate as many amateur radio entities to work and train with public safety personnel, understand the value of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS) concept and the role of the communications unit leader (COML).
